Shop and Dine in Red Hook

For those slow-paced days when you just want to stroll around in the sunshine, head over to American Yacht Harbor and wander through an assortment of shops, restaurants, grocery stores and local vendors. Conveniently located a few minutes away in the Red Hook area, you will find scenic views overlooking the harbor, quaint shops, and plenty of waterfront dining with multiple cuisines to please everyone in the group. Whether you are stopping by for coffee and breakfast in the morning or an ice-cream cone while shopping in the afternoon, the harbor is an ideal setting for a relaxed day. Kayak the Mangrove Lagoon

One of St. Thomas's hidden gems is the mangrove lagoon on the southside of the island - see article with images here. For those who love wildlife and the outdoors, kayaking through these waterways is something you'll want to put at the top of your list. Take a guided tour where you will paddle through the lagoon to the remote island of Cas Cay where you can stop and explore the tidal pools, rubble beaches, volcanic cliffs and even a geological blowhole. Horseback Ride on the Beach

Ever dreamed of riding off into the sunset on horseback? Then here is the perfect activity for you! Golden Age Ranch is a non-profit organization that rescues racehorses on island. These horses come mainly from our local track and are rehabilitated for riding tours. You can choose from two different types of tours - trail riding or beach riding. Try SCUBA Diving

St. Thomas is a diver's paradise and there are dozens of amazing dive sites to choose from on the southside of the island. Whether you are new to the underwater world or are an advanced diver, there are plenty of colorful reefs and wrecks for you to explore here. However, if you are not certified, that's okay too! Our on-site dive shop offers a one-day, introductory course so you can see what SCUBA is all about without being certified. Rent a Jet-Ski

Do you feel the need, the need for speed? Then live life in the fast lane and book a freestyle jet-ski tour where the open ocean is all yours to zip around and explore. You will head out of Sapphire Marina on the east end of the island and get to experience the beautiful, uninhabited cays and turquoise waters that stretch between St. Thomas and St. John. Island Hop to St. John

One of the best parts of the 3 Virgin Islands is how close they are to one another! The inter-island ferry terminal is located right in the heart of Redhook, which makes hopping over to our neighboring island of St. John a breeze. St. John is home to the Virgin Islands National Park where you can explore secluded white-sand beaches, sugar plantation ruins, hiking trails and even ancient petroglyphs. Once arrived in St. John, getting around the island is easy. There is plenty of shopping and dining conveniently located within walking distance of the ferry terminal, or for just a few dollars you can catch a ride on a Safari bus that will take straight to the beaches. CHARLOTTE AMALIE
Central St. Thomas | Capital of U.S. Virgin Islands

As the largest city in the V.I. and the most visited cruise ship harbor in the Caribbean, Charlotte Amalie is a hub of activity and only eight miles from the resort. The picturesque town and harbor feature historic, Danish buildings that house local merchants offering everything from the finest jewelry, watches and artwork to cameras, china, crystal, alcohol and handcrafted items. Visitors enjoy duty-free shopping, elegant dining, and exciting nightlife. Established as a Danish colony in 1672, history buffs can explore the storied past of Charlotte Amalie from the cobblestones of Main Street to the many museums, 17th century architecture, and array of designated historic landmarks.

CAS CAY & MANGROVE LAGOON

St. Thomas’ Mangrove Lagoon is an unspoiled region of clear-blue waterways lined by a forest of coral-fringed mangrove trees. Just off the coast is Cas Cay, a tiny, uninhabited island within kayaking distance from the marina.

Perfect for the adventure traveler seeking an off-the-grid experience, this 15-acre island comes complete with hiking trails, tidal pools, volcanic cliffs, and a rare geological blowhole. Visitors can rent kayaks, standup paddleboards, and snorkel gear from the Mangrove Lagoon location.

 

MAHOGANY RUN GOLF COURSE

Mahogany Run Golf Course is the island's only 18-hole championship golf course and is located just 15 minutes from the resort. Golf Digest proclaimed the course an engineering marvel, as it had to be carved and blasted into an area of land less than 110 acres. Designed by George and Tom Fazio, Mahogany Run culminates in the spectacular "Devil's Triangle," the world-renowned signature trio of the 13th, 14th and 15th holes on the Atlantic Ocean.

ST. PETER MOUNTAIN GREATHOUSE & BOTANICAL GARDENS - Closed for repairs until further notice

Lush botanical gardens pair with the West Indian architecture of the Greathouse on this 150-acre plantation occupying the volcanic peaks of St. Thomas. Guests at the St. Peter Mountain Greathouse & Botanical Gardens are invited to explore the ground’s streaming waterfalls, fishponds, aviaries, and of course, lush tropical orchids, plants, and fruit trees.

CORAL WORLD OCEAN PARK

Located adjacent to Coki Beach on the east end of St. Thomas, this 5-acre, kid-friendly attraction features an indoor-outdoor aquarium filled with Caribbean marine life. Hands-on exhibits allow visitors to interact with rescued sea turtles, feed sea lions, swim with tropical fish, and experience the thrill of exploring a coral reef. You can also take the Sea Trek Helmet Dive on a guided walk along an underwater trail.
  
PHANTASEA TROPICAL BOTANICAL GARDEN
Near Charlotte Amalie | Hours: Daily, 9am – 5pm

Phantasea is a serene tropical oasis filled with thousands of orchids, bromeliads, lilies, palms, and other native flora that bloom beneath a forested canopy of tropical trees. This naturally air-conditioned eco-attraction is a must-see for nature lovers, and features winding pathways with benches, gazebos, and interpretative signs with plant names and other fun facts. Butterflies and hummingbirds fly throughout the garden, and parrots, tortoises, and peacocks live there, too.
 

MAGEN’S BAY BEACH

North Coast | Admission is $4 per person

This north coast beach may be the most celebrated location on Saint Thomas. Known for its incredibly photogenic and swimmable waters, Magen’s Bay is a tourist favorite, so guests looking for a bit of privacy should try to visit in the early morning or late afternoon.

 

ST THOMAS PLACES OF WORSHIP

St Thomas has a wonderfully diverse religious community and is home to many buildings of historical significance. Houses of worship with historical significance include Cathedral Church of All Saints, built in 1848; Frederick Lutheran Church, built in 1793; St. Thomas Reformed Church (oldest congregation in the USVI), established around 1660; and St. Thomas Synagogue (one of the oldest synagogues in the Western Hemisphere) opened in 1833.
