Christopher Columbus is credited with "discovering" Saint Thomas during his second voyage to the New World in 1493. However, his stay was short-lived, instead sailing on to Puerto Rico. The island was left unguarded by the Spanish and soon its sheltered bays were called on by ships from other nations, captained by men the Spanish would come to consider pirates. Saint Thomas' existence would continue as home to pirates and small settlements long before a European power decided to pursue a permanent settlement.
Today, the history, climate, white beaches, and natural beauty of Saint Thomas attract visitors from all over the world. From world-class shopping, fine dining, to a wide variety of active outdoor adventures including kayaking, scuba diving, sailing, sport-fishing and more, the paradise of Saint Thomas offers tourists the finest vacation spot for families, lovers, and individuals alike.
Secret Harbour, which offers a dive shop on site, is located on the quiet East End of Saint Thomas eight miles from the bustling downtown area. The resort is just one mile from shopping at Red Hook and the ferry to St. John. The Cyril E. King Airport is a 10-mile drive from the resort.
Driving Directions: As you exit the airport, follow the road around to the traffic light and turn right (East) on Route 30. Follow 30 through town along the waterfront. Go through the light to the right (keeping Wendy's on your right) as it goes by the cruise ship docks. Be careful not to make the left onto 313. Continue to follow 30 until it ends at Route 32. Turn right and proceed past the marinas and through the only light. Turn right onto 322, where the metal sailboat sculpture says Vessup Bay Estates. Take the first right and then the first left cut-back and proceed into the resort. Pull into the circle drive on the right to the front desk and welcome!
